The nursing profession has been changing since its inception during the Florence Nightingale period (Stievano et al., 2019). In that regard, the nursing field must brand itself adequately to be honored and recognized by the public. The public image of professional nurses is influenced by a number of factors in the nursing field, including education, technology, and hospital care services. In the past, nurses were viewed by the public as inferior medical practitioners who only assisted physicians and could not make independent decisions (Stievano et al., 2019). However, this erroneous perception has changed over time. Nurses are now viewed as educated medical practitioners who play a significant role in patient care.

Technological advancement has also influenced the public image of the nursing profession. Through technology, the public has more reliable information on nurses' duties and can now appreciate nurses for their commitment to care for patients. Technology, through such platforms as media, has created awareness that healthcare facilities cannot function without nursing staff (Kress et al., 2018). The quality of care in hospitals has improved over the years, and many honors have been accorded to nurses by the public as they handle and interact with patients directly.

Write my essay

As a nurse, I have to inform society of my duties and correct misconceptions they may have. The route of delivering my information regarding what we do as professional nurses is vital in determining how society will perceive the information. Kress et al. (2018) argue that social media platforms are the most effective means of increasing public awareness of nurses' roles and duties in the modern world. I would consider accompanying the description of nurses' duties in my social media handles with images of nurses in care facilities to capture people’s attention and imagination. Moreover, social media platforms provide the best opportunity to interact with the general public, inform them about what professional nurses do, and, at the same time, correct those with wrong perceptions about nurses. Moreover, I strongly believe delivering quality care would be instrumental in ensuring members of society develop a deeper understanding of nurses' roles and responsibilities in healthcare.
