Objective and Hypothesis

The main objective of the experiment was to carry out a laboratory simulation of the nitrogen cycle. The simulation was geared towards the balancing of food demand and the environmental concerns regarding the utilization of nitrogen in the various sectors of the society. The hypothesis of the study was that when a balance was effected between food demand and environmental concern, there would be minimal change or no change at all in the nitrogen cycle.

Background

The nitrogen cycle can be illustrated as the change in formation and even composition among the various states of matter. The nitrogen cycle can be illustrated as the change in the form of nitrogen especially from air to organism, soil, and ultimately back to the air. The cycle is a form of balance that must be maintained so that environmental concerns do not arise from the change in nitrogen concentration (Hoang et al., 2022). The balance of food demand and environmental problems can be used to illustrate the fact that nitrogen is a vital component in the growth of plants but, when heavily utilized, can alter the cycle, leading to environmental issues.

Lab Simulation

The simulation was accessed through the link that was provided in the course work. The main activities of the simulation were geared toward the stabilization of the nitrogen cycle in society. Various activities and processes were incorporated in the simulation whose impacts were analyzed, and the overall percentage of efficiency of the nitrogen cycle was illustrated at the end of the simulation.

Results and Discussion

From the various actions and taks that were described in the simulation regarding the balance of food and the environmental concerns on the aspect of the nitrogen cycle, I was able to attain a score of 100%. Such illustrates that during the simulation, the decision that were made would act in favor of both food production and the environmental conservation aspects in regard to the nitrogen cycle. As such, it can be illustrated that the decisions that were made in the simulation would assist in meeting the food demand in the market and also have minimal environmental effects as a result of strict adherence to marinating the nitrogen cycle.

Conclusion and Implication

From the experiment, it can be concluded that specific actions can be carried out on the nitrogen cycle; it would allow the growth of food to meet the demand and not affect the environment. This study implies that simulations can be applied in testing and improving the knowledge of the nitrogen cycle that will produce food to meet the demand and have minimal effects on the environement.
