As a writer, I have significantly improved in the organization and the way I relate issues within my work as compared to when I was starting the semester. I am now able not only to describe the problems in my work but also to employ the proper transition from one point to another. My citation of other writers' work has also significantly improved since the start of the semester because, at first, I used to provide improper citations. Since the beginning of the semester, my writing has been enhanced in three crucial aspects, including thesis statement formulation and transition from one point to another, the general organization and presentation of ideas, and the way I cite other writers' work.
At first, I had issues formulating a thesis statement and topic sentences for body paragraphs. For instance, as noted by the instructor in my first essay, "War and Its Toll on My Body and Mind," I used my essay to announce what the paper would do, which is not recommended for short essays but for research papers. However, in the latest essay, "Current Student Loans of the US College Students Should be Forgiven," my thesis statement is well formulated; there is no announcement, but it mentions all the main points discussed in the body paragraphs. Additionally, my topic sentences start with a transition word. For example, in the "Current Student Loans of the US College Students Should be Forgiven," I used the words "foremost, second, third" at the start of the body paragraphs to initiate the transition and logic of the essay.

Write my essayNow, I can transition from one point to another with a lot of ease and carry my readers with me through my entire writing. This is something that I could not do at the beginning of the semester, and someone could easily get bored while reading my writing. Ultimately, based on the transition and flow of an essay, my latest essay, "Current Student Loans of the US College Students Should be Forgiven," has a better flow than the first one. The essay shows how my writing has taken a transformative approach, and I can present my ideas better with a good flow from one point to another. For example, when addressing the adverse impacts of student loans, I start by acknowledging their importance first, and then offering a counterargument, and then I present the reasons for that. I wrote, "Despite the importance of student loan forgiveness in the US, the proposition is faced with several counterarguments." This was then followed by reasons why student loans have adverse impacts.
Notably, I have improved how I acknowledge and cite other people's work. I am now more competent in providing MLA format in-text citations. For example, in the "Current Student Loans of the US College Students Should be Forgiven," all in-text citations do not have a comma between the author and the page number. However, despite my improvements and strengths in the in-text citations, there are some key weaknesses that I should also improve on the Works Cited page. For example, in the same essay, the instructor noted that the Works Cited lacked functional links. For instance, the work cited is "Looney, Adam. "Student loan forgiveness is regressive whether measured by income, education, or wealth." Hutchins Center Working Papers (2022) lack a functional link. This is something that I will improve on for my future work. I plan to address this weakness during my college career by being keener when paraphrasing or quoting the work of other writers to give them the proper credit.
To conclude, my writing has significantly improved from the general organization to the way I engage my audience throughout the entire writing. At first, I was not able to carry my audience with me through the writing via the use of transitioning words and helping them see when I moved to a different idea or point. Now, I am able to develop and organize my thesis easily and better, and I organize my work in order of importance, moving from point to point in each of the single paragraphs I use. I am also able to revise my work through proofreading, correcting any possible errors, and changing anything that my professor instructs. The workshop experience has tremendously helped improve my work, as I have taken enough time to draft and plan how I will present it.
