I appreciate that you reflected on your practicum experience. I also acknowledge your stand on working closely with your preceptor to switch to a narrow-spectrum antibiotic. Indeed, switching to a narrow-spectrum antibiotic is a wise decision since it effectively targets the pathogen and significantly reduces the risk of promoting antibiotic resistance.

According to Alm & Lahiri (2020), for many of these atypical narrow-spectrum medicines, there are obstacles in the way of registration because they still need to demonstrate clinical benefit by the strict parameters set forth; how are you did you overcome such obstacles? I am particularly amazed at your thoughts on the potential role of AI in healthcare. Even though your practicum does not currently use AI, can you think of any circumstances in which its application could enhance stewardship initiatives? Overall, these results indicate that the field's continued emphasis on applying research findings to clinical practice to achieve the best possible patient outcomes while avoiding interventions that exacerbate resistance makes sense.
