Minority groups face challenges due to inequities and the failure of the community and the government to integrate them socially. A primary aspect of the course content that resonates with me or influences a change in perspective regarding the social, economic, and political position of minority groups is the underlying structural and sociopolitical discrepancies (Churchwell et al., 2020). I believe it is difficult to comprehend the challenges of social exclusion or unequal distribution of resources and opportunities, especially when coming from a dominant racial group. As a country, it is a delicate conversation to recognize our deficiencies in guiding the country toward a future of inclusion. Social media backlash, especially from far-right political ideology, blames minority groups like African Americans for their position in society, claiming it is untrue or rather a propagated social and political concept aiming to tarnish the image of the nation (Bromley, 2021). The plight of minority groups is a complex topic to socially deliberate and put into context views from both sides to create social cohesion and understanding.
I am more comfortable talking about structural inequities and racism or discrimination as a construct of the knowledge from the course content. The course content encourages my ability to have an open conversation on the problems that face minority groups and comfortably fight against the perspectives of those who believe minority groups' challenges are just a show (Couperus & Tortola, 2023). The course content first clarifies the inadequacies in social integration and economic empowerment of minority groups. There are few viable initiatives for community awareness on the relevance of social justice in advocating for the dignity and place of minority communities in our society. Additionally, the course content illuminates, as a second point, the existing barriers to diversity and inclusion given the lack of political backing to initiatives and insufficient funding to aid these communities in un-doing years of structural and social injustice. Minority groups are struggling, and it is our duty in whatever capacity to educate those unaware of these challenges in formulating a collective approach to social inclusion.

The course content is informative in matters concerning diversity and inclusion and existing structural discrepancies that aid a lack of inclusivity and inequality in the distribution of resources. Two aspects of the course content currently shape my understanding of the challenges facing minority groups. First, the course content illuminates the influence of politics in shaping social and structural inequities that hinder the progress of minority groups (Canizales & Valejo, 2021). The public embodies the politician's views and ideas as representatives. When political leaders at the topmost position of a country's leadership fail to uphold principles of social justice in advocating for the plight of minority groups, their supporters are likely to embody traits of racism and discrimination (Canizales & Valejo, 2021). Political influence also creates policies that, in design, lower the health, economic and academic outcomes of minority groups. The second aspect of the course content that has been critical to my understanding of the challenges affecting minority groups is the solutions to the legal and political inadequacies in upholding social justice (Andrias & Sachs, 2020)—the course content advocates for political and legal reforms as pathways to the fair representation of minority groups. The reforms will go a long way in creating employment and enhancing healthcare access and educational outcomes.
Several processes and methods are essential in promoting diversity, cohesion and inclusion in gender, ethnic or race relations. First, community awareness campaigns highlighting the challenges facing minority groups with proposed reforms are vital in enhancing these relations (Mosley et al., 2021). The second process is embracing diversity and inclusion education in the community. Diversity and inclusion education are paramount in strengthening cultural competence that fosters acceptance of individual differences (Hymel & Katz, 2019). These two processes provide community and individuals with an avenue of not only comprehending the plight of minority groups but also fostering an environment of inclusivity.
