At the beginning of the 20th century, Italy experienced the growth of Fascism under Benito Mussolini, characterized by authoritarianism and nationalism. This essay aims to decode the end of fascism, following its uneven course from its beginnings to its literal and figurative deaths. It covers factors such as internal dissent and repression, the realization of aggression’s consequences, growing antifascist sentiment, and allies winning, both external and internal revolts. The study found the different reasons for Mussolini's regime falling and the end of Fascism in Italy through this analysis.

Resistance and suppression were the significant factors that contributed to the fall of fascism. The primary obstacle was the response to the initial resistance between 1919 and 1923, designed to quash dissent through excessive violence. As fascism developed, it started to use subtler tools, refraining from causing political imprisonment. This oppression drove out various parts of society and gave rise to underground resistance movements (American Historical Association, 2019). Therefore, it loosened Stalingrad's grip on power, thus significantly contributing to the final collapse of fascism.

The realization of consequences taught people that fascism is morally unacceptable. The bombardment of Ethiopia in 1935 showed the fascists' aggressive character. It started being quite apparent to the Italians that fascist expansionism was ever more destructive to peace all over, thus turning the very idea of such into something more than just unsettling. The war process unveiled many weaknesses that supported the government's policymaking (American Historical Association, 2019). The realization of the horrible effects of fascism on its people caused the decline of its popularity and, eventually, the end of its rule.

The increase in antifascist feelings served as one of the critical causes of its decline. Enhancing Italy's involvement in World War II also culminated in the rise of the opposition. The increasing evidence of the disastrous results of fascist policies began to trickle down to the people. Underground resistance movements had metamorphosed into a strong trend involving many people who entered the ordeal (American Historical Association, 2019). The rhythmic swelling antifascist tide finally stole the support party from the people, and this caused it to collapse eventually.

Allied military victories and internal rebellion played a significant role in the fall of fascism. The alliance wins, gaining ascendancy, and the regime's grip on power becomes the weak link. With those repressions in parallel, workers' strikes, especially against industrial workers in northern Italy under Nazi control, made things worse for Benito Mussolini (American Historical Association, 2019). This confluence of external pressure and internal outrage eroded the power of fascism, which later led to its downfall and the liberation of Italy from autocratic rule.

Lastly, the main reason fascism collapsed in Italy was based on the combination of all the aspects described. The internal opposition, understanding of the consequences of the aggression, the growing anti-fascism, the Allied victories, and the internal rebellion weakened the Mussolini regime. By organizing these events, the population directly encountered the dissolution of fascist power, which eventually caused the dictatorship's downfall and brought the alliance of democratic values back into the country.
