Many ecological and monetary issues have stemmed from the world’s energy reliance on fossil fuel sources. Switching to renewable energy sources is imperative given climate change, pollution, and the decreasing energy sources of the world. Therefore, in light of the argument presented in this article, the only way of achieving this is through embracing renewable energy resources. Thus, for long-term economic sustainability, decreased pollution levels, and combating climate change, renewable energy sources need to be embraced.

Mitigating Climate Change

Conventional energy sources include coal, oil, and natural gas, which have been examined and used for electricity production in power plants for several centuries (Rahman et al., 2022). The large energy density of these sources is perhaps their most attractive feature. However, when employed, they emit carbon and other human-induced greenhouse gases. In its bid to address climate change and reduce the carbon footprint in the energy sector, there is a need to transition from fossil fuels to easily exploitable renewable energy sources (Ebhota & Jen, 2020). Greenhouse gases are either absent or present in very small quantities when electricity is generated through solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. Reducing Environmental Pollution

Extraction and consumption of fossil fuels cause air and water pollution, which is risky for the environment and human beings. Globally, pollution from the burning of fossil fuels is the most dangerous hazard to children’s health and future and a chief driver of inequality and environmental racism. However, the expected benefits are not only the decreased demand for fossil fuels but also the minimization of adverse effects on the environment. As for the social effects, the most significant is the creation of new jobs, especially given the economic crisis. Employment and socio-economic development can be addressed through renewable energy. Opportunities for employment in renewable energy sources range from manufacturing to using and maintaining energy sources. Moreover, renewable energy helps minimize reliance on imported fuels, thereby improving energy security and prices. Supporting renewable infrastructure contributes to the development of new technologies and creates an environment where countries act as pioneers of the green economy.

Thus, the introduction of renewable energy is crucial for preventing climate change, reducing pollution, and promoting economic stability. It is, therefore, possible to develop and use sustainable energy solutions to sustain future generations while at the same time promoting economic development. There is a need for the government, companies, and consumers to work collectively towards the achievement of a sustainable society through the use of renewable energy.
